Billed as the largest airsoft match in the world: thousands of players in factions and platoons on a 120-hectare former Soviet airfield, combined with a full festival experience.
Dark Emergency is organised by Airsoft Helden on the former Soviet/Russian military airfield at Mahlwinkel, Saxony-Anhalt – built in the woods in 1952 and used by Soviet troops until 1994. The site covers around 120 hectares of runways, forest, trenches and old military buildings.
Players choose a faction and are placed into platoons led by experienced platoon leaders. Beside the game itself the event is a festival: camping on site, in-game vehicles (by application), a Platinum Club festival lodge and evening entertainment. Trade press reported around 4,000 attendees over two days in 2024, and the organisers describe up to 3,000 players in four teams.
