Emerson Gear FAST SF ultra high cut airsoft helmet

Quick verdict

  • The FAST SF is a light (~800 g) ABS airsoft helmet with EPS pads, memory-foam lining and a rear adjustment dial.
  • The ultra-high cut leaves room for an active headset under the helmet edge.
  • Side rails, NVG shroud and velcro panels carry headset, camera and anti-fog fan.
  • Sizes: S/M 55–59 cm and L/XL 59–62 cm. It is airsoft-grade, not ballistic protection.

The Emerson Gear FAST SF Ultra High Cut is one of the most popular lightweight helmets for airsoft – and the base of my entire head setup. Here is what you get, the full specs, and how it all comes together with my headset, mask, goggles and camera.

Safety notice: this product is designed for airsoft only and is not protective equipment for real combat situations.

What’s in the box

The helmet itself, paper instructions, a couple of different types of padding and attachments. The video shows how I arranged the inner padding for my head.

Why the high cut matters

The ultra-high cut leaves room around the ears, so an active headset fits under the helmet edge without taking the helmet off. Combined with the side rails, that is what makes a proper comms setup possible.

Verdict

  • Pros: light, comfortable padding, headset-friendly high cut, plenty of rails and velcro for accessories, quick dial adjustment, good matte finish.
  • Cons: airsoft-grade only (not ballistic); the stock rails aren’t ideal for every headset adapter, so mounting ear-pro takes some fiddling.

For airsoft, this is the one and only helmet you need.

Emerson Gear FAST SF Ultra High Cut Helmet

The foundation of my head setup: ~800 g ABS shell, ultra-high cut so the EARMOR headset fits underneath, side rails, NVG shroud for a camera and a dial at the back for a quick, tight fit.

Pyramex V2G-Plus Goggles (GB6420SDT)

My eye protection: sealed goggles with an anti-fog lens that accept a prescription insert – a must for me because I wear glasses. With the fan kit pushing air inside, they stay clear all game.

Pyramex RX Prescription Insert

Prescription frame that clips inside the V2G goggles. This is how I play with corrected vision without wearing glasses under sealed goggles.

Goggle Anti-Fog Fan Kit

The best ~$20 I have spent on gear. Magnetic hoses blow air into the goggles; on one charge it ran four hours and still showed green, and turbo mode clears fog in seconds. Other players say it is completely silent.

NB Tactical Fortis LP Mask

Coated steel mesh, only 48 g, rated to 500 fps, with a memory-foam nose bridge that moulds to your face after a couple of games. Worn over the edge of my glasses, it feels like it is not there.
